    1. Here I go again trying to write a review for one of Susan's books. By now everyone knows I'm totally in love with her books. All I can say about this book is WOW. It's difficult to write the perfect words to describe how this book made me feel besides "emotionally messy" in a fabulous way. I hung on to every word in this book, every emotion as if I were living it. Susan's books do that to me, they transport me to a different world. It's like she's inside my head sometimes. It's so raw and real a [...]

    2. Exactly a year ago, I read the first book in this series - Girl on the Half Shell- and I was immediately mesmerized with this story.Chrissie Parker, daughter of famous musician Jack Parker, is a confused, spoiled prep school girl when we first meet her. She falls hopelessly in love with rock superstar, Alan Manzone, and messes up her life royally along the way.The books follow Chrissie in her life and endless pursuits of love and affection. She goes to college, believes she falls in love with Ne [...]

    3. Exactly the way I would have ended it!I honestly love this series. It deals with so much and I loved it all. I remember the dates that Susan Ward used in these books because I lived them, prominently Kurt Cobain's death. It changed me as it did the main characters in this book. I give to much away read this series you will love it.

    4. Quite an action-packed ending to the four-book series, during which my allegiances definitely shifted from Neil to Alan. Two big secrets are revealed which I did not see coming, but Chrissie finally gets her HEA in the end. A fitting finale, although the family’s story doesn’t end here (yay!).

    5. I couldn't have prepared myself for a more gripping finaleWowsa.  I started this last night and fell asleep at 2am with 15% to go.  Woke up at 6am and had to finish!!!  Susan was right when she commented about wanting to throw my Kindle at some point.  But how could I expect anything less from this epic journey of love, pain, regrets and self discovery? The Girl in the Comfortable Quiet ends the saga of Chrissie, Neil and Alan in a most arresting fashion.  If I thought for once things [...]

    7. Wow!! Just Wow!! This final installment in 'The Girl on the Half Shell' freaking blew me away. It all comes full circle, and a roller coaster ride of gigantic proportions! I loved Chrissy in this book, I loved how much she had grown emotionally, and though she still has some hang-ups, she finally went after what she wanted and the hell with everyone else. Loved her concert. Loved her message to Neil and the way it was delivered. The author did a fantastic job of keeping me on the edge of my seat [...]

    8. Oh dear I sit here, after reading all night and barely making into work today, and I am so overwhelm with all the emotions book #4 arised in me: I was happy for Chrissie as she enjoyed her pregnancy and marriage to Neil. Annoyed when Neil started acting so weird. Cautious when Alan suddenly appeared out of the blue. Shocked to my core when the truth about Neil came out. Angst when Chrissie's life spiral out of control again. And not surprised, and really wishing deep deep inside me since the beg [...]

    9. This book was so frustrating, or should I say, Chrissie was frustrating. I kind of had a feeling what it is that Neil must have done to be so bad to make Chrissie leave. I just wasn't expecting her to find out the way she did. I don't think anything Chrissie could have done would have changed things but she was something else in the way she would treat Neil. She was in such denial of reality and what her true feelings were for both Neil and Alan. I also was not expecting the way Chrissie found o [...]

    10. What can I say about this book, except that it was the perfect ending to the Chrissie and Manny saga---that actually wasn't an endingI adored this series for every reason imaginable but mostly because the characters were realistic and imperfect and their love was something most people dream ofbut it's a long difficult road. I was sad to finish this series, but elated when I read Broke Crown, because the story continued and then came to a wonderful conclusion. Keep reading peeps, Susan Ward naile [...]

    11. The ending to this series blew me away. There were a few surprises along the way that I did not see coming. If you have not read this series you "must" read it. I fell in love with Chrissie and Alan's story. I was happy to see that it does not end here. I must read "Broken Crown" next.

    12. If I describe this series I would say it's a rockstar love triangle Hundreds of books were about this And I hate love trianglesBut this series was amazing It was beyond the cliché. I didn't like or hate any of the main charactersey were all humansey were complex like in real life. black and whiteChrissie the narrator was very confusinge seemed to me self-absorbedSometimes she's strongmetimes weak Her walking away from Allen has many interpretations May be she was scared of his overwhelming char [...]

    13. What a disappointing end to a series. This book not only did not answer your question it frustrates you and the way that Chrissy never truly grows up really pissed me off. Her reaction to Neil was just wrong, I do not care how much you thought you loved him that you guys were best friends. He had been using her from the moment he met her in book one. He used her name, her father's fame, so that he could cover up being gay from the very beginning. It doesn't matter that overtime he developed plat [...]

    14. I am just so hurt. I don't even know where to begin my thoughts on the story. I jumped out of my usual Labbe order to read this last installment of the series. I was so eager to finaly learn Neil's secret that jumped over 50 other books in my to read library and started on the last installment. I read the first 60% of the book until 12 AM in the morning. I woke up the next day instantly wanted to finish the heart aching story. Neil's secret was painful yet I knew that was the problem. I think Ch [...]

    15. This is really a rating of the 4 books in the series. This series contains lots of plot lines I usually; avoid, find eye-roll inducing or kindle-throwing-worthy; (view spoiler)[ miscommunication, pregnancy, cheating.(hide spoiler)]Yet I couldn’t stop reading, a testament to how well written these books are. Is it perfect, no, but a solid 4 stars IMO. The author managed to make me believe that our heroine is just immature and naïve, and done very realistically so. She makes a ton of mistakes an [...]

    16. Wow, just wow. What a roller-coaster of emotions this book turned out to be, way better than I expected. It took her 3 books but Chrissie finally made the decision to take control of her life and her emotions like the adult she is. It was heartbreaking what happened with her and Neil. I kind of figured out about Neil when Chrissie saw him talking to Andy in London, but the build-up to THAT scene was so full of angst, I was hyperventilating. There was a lot that was left unexplained in this story s [...]

    17. Great ending to a fantastic series!I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from the second I started reading it last night. I loved Susan's writing of this book and how although Chrissie has changed she's very much the same with her "lame, so lame" comments. My favorite part was the suspense leading up to Chrissie finding out Neil's secret. I could not put the book down! She did such a great job building the suspense and describing Chrissie's feelings that I felt like I was right along side Chris [...]

    18. Wasted readingThere was no plot on this book. It basically showed how it took 20 years before a HAE for both Alan and Chrissie. It jumps year to years on every chapters. It also showed how both heroine continues to get married to other people but not to one another. This book ruined the other series. Nothing on this book made sense. I don't get how all her kids 5 of them were all his. Don't waste your money on this. Nothing on this book was different from the other series. The female is still wi [...]

    19. A poetic love storyNo matter how you read this you feel the pull. The way love Is so unfair and yet we yearn for it. I agree it's better not to see the future because of we could some of us would change that. We fight for what we want and not let it go by the waste side. I think that's what Ms. Parker had to learn in life. If not with Alan "Manny" with whoever she spent the remaining days of her life with. I loved this story. The characters made you hate them, love them and want to scream at the [...]

    20. I had a knot in my throat reading this book. Lies! OMG…… I love angst and I love emotional roller coaster rides. There are those books that you read that feel like you have been stabbed in the chest. I feel like a wound will fester after this one. I am so invested the lives of these characters. Chrissie is confronted with more unexpected changes. Truths about her father and Neil’s shocking secret & Alan’s unrelenting love for her. I want More…

    21. Just when I though she would stay and be happy, hell breaks lose once again. I WANT TO SCREAM!!! Just love Alan and be good to him. But no, she just cannot do that. Well at least that is what I thought :(

    22. well, this book threw me for a loopis series has so many twists and turns. It is so easy to fall in love with Chrissie and Alan, at least it was easy for me. If you are looking for a great love story(and so much more) then you really should read this series!

    23. Sometimes I need to read to escape the life around me. Sometimes I need read to remind me the imperfect life around me is made better with words.
