Hollywood actor Harrison Ford was involved in a near miss in his private single engine plane at a California airport.
He was given permission to land on the runway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County but unwittingly landed on a taxiway instead.
He passed over an American Airlines jet carrying 110 passengers which had just been cleared to take off.
“Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?” he reportedly told air traffic controllers.
According to NBC News air traffic control had relayed the correct landing instructions to the actor.
It sparked a probe by the FAA which said a violation of this type could result in ‘a simple warning letter to a suspension of Ford’s pilot license.’
Ford is an experienced pilot although he has been involved in a few hairy moments in the past.
In 2015, Ford was injured after he crashed a vintage plane on a Santa Monica golf course after the engine cut out.
